NEW PODCAST FROM REAL HOUSEWIVES OF O.C. PIONEER VICKI GUNVALSON LAUNCHES TODAY ON WESTWOOD ONE

NEW YORK, NY – March 05, 2020 – CUMULUS MEDIA’s Westwood One today dropped the first and second episodes of Whoop It Up with Vicki, Gunvalson’s new podcast and first major project since announcing her departure from the Real Housewives of Orange County in January. Whoop It Up with Vicki is available at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn, Pocket Casts, and Google Podcasts among other platforms.

After 14 years as the “OG of the OC” Vicki starts a new chapter with her weekly podcast. Joined by a wide array of friends and A-list guests, Vicki lets us know who she really is, dishes on all things Real Housewives, and shares empowering truths about life, financial freedom, relationships, and finding love. It’s a side of Vicki never seen or heard before.

“I’m so excited about my podcast because it allows me to speak directly to my millions of fans and followers, and to make new friends around the world,” said Gunvalson. “You definitely haven’t heard the last of me. In fact, it’s just the beginning!”

“Vicki captured a huge audience while on the Real Housewives and entertained them fantastically for years, creating a loyal and engaged fan base,” said Suzanne Grimes, EVP Marketing, CUMULUS MEDIA and President, Westwood One. “Fans can now experience the real Vicki behind the Real Housewives. She’s still unfiltered and outrageous, but she is also a substantial and serious businesswoman with a lot of smart things to say.”

In Episode 1, Vicki fills in the gaps in her life story, and shares some secrets about what it’s like to star in a hit reality TV show:

On adjusting to life after the show and the resulting loss of income:

18:33 – “It’s been a transition. It’s been – something that I never wanted to do became part of my life, and, you know, my kids enjoyed it. When I finished the 14th season, I was in a seven-figure income. When the phone call comes to you and says you are no longer going to be on, you better have a back-up plan on your finances that you can still sustain the life that you created for the last 14, 15 years. The good news is, I never bought a bigger house, I never bought any bigger cars, I lived within my means, I paid my taxes, banked as much as I could. I probably spent more on clothing than I should have, but I always wanted to try to look cute for you all. But the majority of the time … I really had a great, great experience.”

On getting fired from the Real Housewives:

21:50 – “I am still in super good standings with them. I’m really close with Doug Ross. He tells me he loves me and he can’t believe that I got fired. I said, ‘Did I really get fired’ and then I called Andy the other day. I said ‘Did you really fire me?’ He says, ‘No honey I didn’t fire you. You’re gonna be on another show. Just stay tuned. You know, there’s lots of stuff coming up for you. We just needed to shift it up.’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t get it. Why me? I got fired. What did I do wrong?’ He’s like, ‘You didn’t do anything wrong.'”

During Episode 2, Vicki pulls back the curtain and reveals what really goes on behind the scenes at Real Housewives reunions, and why she was so heartbroken. Time has passed, but Vicki is still furious with everyone involved. Listeners find out why.
